Overview

Our Block Paving Service

Block paving gives a hard-wearing driveway that can be laid in a range of colours and laying patterns. Individual blocks can be lifted and relaid, so damage or access work is easy to put right later.

    The Process

    How It Works

    1. 1

      Survey and quote

We visit your local property, check access and drainage, and give you a written, itemised quote.

    2. 2

      Excavate and prepare

We dig out to the correct depth and lay a compacted sub-base suited to the traffic your drive will take.

    3. 3

      Edge restraints and drainage

We install edge restraints to stop the blocks spreading, and set drainage so water runs away from the house.

    4. 4

      Lay and finish

We lay the blocks in your chosen pattern, compact and joint them, then clean down before we hand back.

    Why Us

    Why Choose Us

A few reasons customers across Berkshire & Surrey choose us:

    • Checkatrade-approved, so our past work and reviews are there for you to check before you commit
    • One team handles your driveway from groundwork to finish, with a single point of contact throughout
    • We prepare the sub-base and drainage properly rather than laying blocks over a weak foundation
    • Individual blocks can be lifted and replaced if damaged, without disturbing the rest of the drive

    What Affects the Price

Every job is different, so we quote after we've seen the site. The main factors are:

    • The size of the driveway and how much excavation is needed
    • The surface you choose (block paving, resin bound or gravel)
    • Access for machinery and how the old surface and spoil are removed
    • Any drainage, kerbing or steps the site needs

    FAQ

    Block Paving Questions

How long does a block paving driveway last?

A well-installed block paving driveway can last for many years, provided the sub-base is properly prepared and the edges are correctly restrained. The surface itself is also easy to maintain, since individual blocks can be replaced if they're damaged.

Can a damaged block be repaired without redoing the whole driveway?

Yes. One of the main advantages of block paving is that individual blocks can be lifted and replaced without disturbing the rest of the drive.

Do I need to seal block paving?

Sealing isn't essential, but it can help protect against staining and make cleaning easier. We can advise on whether it's worth it for your specific block type.

Do you remove the old driveway before laying block paving?

Yes. Excavation, removal of the old surface, and clearing the site afterwards are all included in the quote.

Do you lay block paving for businesses as well as homeowners?

Yes. Alongside domestic driveways, we carry out commercial block paving for businesses in your area.
